The short version: every conversion here is an approximation. Approve printed colour from a physical proof, never from a number on a screen.
This disclaimer is drafted around the specific risk this site carries: someone acting on a converted colour value and paying for a print run that comes back wrong. It is not legal advice. Ask a solicitor whether the limitation of liability below is enforceable where you trade, and insert your legal entity name and governing law.
Accuracy of conversions #
The converters on this site apply the standard published relationships between colour models. They are calculated correctly, and we test them against known values. What they cannot do is predict a printed result.
A set of CMYK numbers is an instruction to lay down ink percentages. The colour that instruction produces depends on the press, the ink set, the paper, the calibration state of the machine and the colour profile in use. None of those are known to this website, and none of them are in the arithmetic.
No substitute for a proof #
Do not approve a print run on the basis of a value taken from this site. A proof pulled on the press that will run your job, on the stock it will run on, is the only thing that answers the question. Where a colour genuinely matters — a brand identity, packaging, a product photograph — there is no shortcut around that step.

Any colour matching we describe is an approximate visual match calculated from publicly available principles. It is not an official value and should not be treated as one.
