Terms of Use

Plain terms covering what the tools are for and, importantly, what they cannot be relied on to do.

Before you publish

These terms are a starting point, not legal advice. The clauses that matter most to you are the limitation of liability and the intellectual property section, and both need checking against the law where you trade. Add your legal entity name, registered address and governing law before launch.

Using this site #

The tools and reference material here are free to use for personal and commercial work. You do not need permission to use a converted value in your own project.

Accuracy and the limits of conversion #

The conversions are mathematical approximations. They describe the standard relationships between colour models; they do not account for ink, paper, press calibration, dot gain or the colour profile your printer works to.

Do not approve a print run on the basis of a value from this site. Colour intended for print should be checked against a physical proof produced by the press that will run the job. We accept no liability for costs arising from printed output that does not match expectations.

Availability #

The site is provided as it is, with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Content may change or be removed without notice.

Content and intellectual property #

The text, code, diagrams and page designs on this site are original work and remain our property. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link. Bulk copying or republication is not permitted.

Colour system names that are trademarks of their respective owners are used descriptively only. We do not reproduce proprietary colour libraries, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by any colour standards organisation.

Where we link to other sites, we are not responsible for their content or practices.

These terms should be read with our disclaimer, privacy policy, cookie policy and disclosure statement.
