Disclosure

How this site makes money, if and when it does, and what that does not buy.

Before you publish

Written for a site that currently earns nothing. The moment an advert, an affiliate link or a sponsored mention appears, this page becomes inaccurate and must be rewritten before that content goes live. Advertising disclosure rules are enforced by consumer protection regulators, not by search engines, so check the requirements that apply in your market.

How this site is funded #

At the time of writing this site carries no advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored content and no paid placements. Nothing on it has been paid for by a third party.

If that changes, this page changes with it. Replace this section with a plain account of what you run: display advertising, affiliate links, sponsored posts, or a mix. Name the networks. Vagueness here is what regulators object to.

What we would do if we did earn commission #

If we ever add affiliate links — links that pay us a commission when you buy something — three rules would apply, and we are stating them in advance so you can hold us to them:

  • Every affiliate link would be labelled at the point where you meet it, not only on this page.
  • Commission would never decide a recommendation. If the better product pays nothing, it still gets recommended.
  • Price is never affected. An affiliate link costs you the same as going direct.

Advertising #

If display advertising is added, it will sit below the tools rather than above or inside them, it will not shift the layout as it loads, and it will never be styled to look like site content or like a converter result.

Note for launch: advertising that sets cookies triggers consent requirements in the UK and EU, and means the cookie policy and privacy policy both have to be rewritten before the first ad goes live.

Editorial independence #

No company has editorial input into what appears here. We do not accept payment for links in articles, for favourable coverage, or for the removal of unfavourable coverage. If a manufacturer sends us something to test, we will say so on the page where we write about it.

Corrections #

If you believe something on this site is misleading, commercially motivated or simply wrong, let us know. Corrections are made and the review date on the page is updated.
